The owner of a £45,000 Porsche stolen from a farm in Northumberland has released dramatic CCTV pictures showing thieves taking his car in the dead of night.

The cameras, which caught a raid on the farm near Berwick, show the meticulous planning involved in the raid, with the thieves even seeming to know they are being filmed.

Wearing overalls to avoid leaving any evidence at the scene, the thieves stole a grey Porsche Carrera belonging to Beal Farm owner Rodney Smith. They also took a five-year-old silver Yamaha 350 quad bike, worth between £3,200 and £3,500.

Tools and equipment, including chainsaws and jump leads – were also stolen, a total loss estimated at £80,000 in the October 11 raid. The Porsche has since been recovered by Northumbria Police in the Durham area but the culprits remain at large.

The images, from over an hour of footage, show four thieves, dressed in light overalls with their heads covered. They can be seen casing the workshop in the dark at 12.15am.

Cameras catch the men trying to work out how to open the doors, and getting in 10 minutes later. Footage shows the men looking around inside the workshop with torches, then forcing the doors wide open.

Now they start to work with more speed. The thieves are soon seen emerging from the building with stolen tools, when a light – triggered by movement – comes on. Some of the men then jog out of the light but they appear to realise it has not alerted anyone.

The thieves are then seen going back into the workshop and coming out with more stolen goods.

The footage then shows the quad bike being pushed out of the building.

Finally, the thieves are seen pushing out the Porsche, with private number plate B10 ARN – chosen because of the attraction’s name. It takes less than a minute to push the car out of the garage and out of sight of the camera.

The gang are thought to be well organised and at one point, one of the group is seen flashing his torch twice, seemingly to instruct an accomplice who is off camera.

Dozy shoplifters caught on CCTV stealing £400 of booze – but forget to fill up their getaway car

Two dozy thieves filled up their boot with stolen booze but forgot to put petrol in their getaway car.

Instead of racing away from the scene, they had the car pushed to a petrol station, all the time being filmed by CCTV cameras.

They has so much stolen booze they struggled to shut the boot, but their brazen plan came unstuck when their blue car ran out of fuel.

After being helped to push the car to the supermarket’s petrol station, the women then filled-up before driving off, unaware the whole fiasco had been captured on security cameras.

Rose Devlin, 59, and Denise Egan, 52, had swiped £400 worth of alcohol, loading a trolley with bottles and cans from the shelves of an Asda store.

Devlin and Egan, both from Manchester, were caught when they repeated the scam at a second Asda store last month.

They both admitted theft and magistrates heard they had been motivated by financial gain after their benefits were cut.

CCTV images of a man wanted over the attempted rape of a woman in Manchester have been released by police.

The woman was taken to hospital after the attack for treatment to facial injuries. A 23-year-old man arrested on suspicion of attempted rape has been released on bail until 22 December.

The city’s 600 taxi drivers could be forced to install CCTV in their cars to protect themselves and their passengers.

Many drivers have backed the idea of all cabbies being forced to have the £400 cameras and microphones fitted in their vehicles from as early as next year.

Last night, some drivers said it would make them and their passengers feel safer, although there were concerns it could be an invasion of passengers’ privacy.

One of two men who bundled a steel wheelie bin on to a Hampshire railway line, which was later hit by a train travelling at 55mph, has been jailed. British Transport Police said CCTV footage captured the pair pushing the industrial-sized bin on to the station platform before pushing it down on to the tracks.

The men will return to court for sentence, pending medical reports, on 25 March 2011.

A bungling teen tried to steal a CCTV camera, but forgot to take the tape. Realizing his mistake the would-be thief returned to the shop in an attempt to take the television with the CCTV images on. The shopkeeper told the ECHO the 16-year-old entered the shop flat the night after stealing the camera.

He picked up a television which he could see from outside and escaped down the back stairs of the building. Unfortunately for him it was the wrong television. He then dumped it in a bin around the back of the shop where it was found the next day.

Two holidaymakers who were caught on CCTV dumping a dog in Dorset have been convicted under animal cruelty laws. Both were given a conditional discharge and ordered to pay £100 costs.

They both faced a charge under the Animal Welfare Act of failing to ensure the needs of an animal which they were responsible for were met.
